Urgent Question! Need quick answer!

I have just made some choux buns but made too many for family to eat today so want to freeze some. Is it better to freeze the buns without cream inside and chocolate on top, or will they freeze fully made up?

I'm not an expert on this type of stuff but am thinking that you buy frozen cakes in the supermarket don't you so they must be okay to freeze whole.

I'd freeze them without filling. Cream can go a bit lumpy when defrosted and generally needs a good beating to make it lovely again. You couldn't do that if it was inside the choux bun.

Probablt taste and texture better if you freeze just the buns though.

I think the best thing would be to drive round to my house with all of them (with cream and choc) and I'll er...keep them for you

Right. TBH, my instinct is to freeze them without anything in/on them, but that means they are not ready to eat the next time I get them out and I don't often have cream in the house. But, I expect I can be persuaded to get some if I know the buns are waiting to be eaten!

On a similar subject, does anyone know of a book I saw once, called something similar to "Does it freeze?" It told you what you can freeze and how, ie vegetables that needed blanching first, etc. Haven't been able to come across it since.

Moondog, yes feeling pretty smug with myself. Dd saw a picture in a recipe book this morning and said I would like those, so, having been rather good at them decades ago, I noncahlantly knocked them up this pm. Trying to get her to understand what a clever mummy she has, but she just giggles!

Will It Freeze?

Blimey just found a book with same title on Amazon. Can't be the book I first saw because it is only recently published, but it looks like it covers all the things I liked the original book for.
