Homemade Christmas Pudding

Hi everyone
I wasn't sure whether to post this on here or the Christmas thread, but since I am making my own, I thought here was better. Anyway, please can I have your recommendations for a tried and tested Christmas pudding recipe? There are so many online, I would really love to make one that tastes amazing. Which ones have you tried (or even your own recipe if you don't mind sharing) that have been incredible?
Thank you!

I always use Delia Smith's recipe. Good luck!

Apologies it’s from the Daily Fail but tried and tested by Betty’s (amazing tearooms in Yorkshire) and me for many years. Christmas pudding is so easy so long as you don’t mind a steamy kitchen for a day.

Re the steamy kitchen, if you have a slow cooker use that for the pudding, 8 hrs on low, no steamy kitchen!

I second that. I have an ancient slow cooker bought in 1981 (heats to a much lower temperature than modern ones) and I do the first steaming in there and then re-heat on Christmas Day for a few hours. We have a utility room so I plug it in there and that leaves more room in the kitchen. No steamy kitchen! No worries about it boiling dry either.

Good tip on the cooker, think mine might be too shallow for the pudding basin but will try next year ( already done this year’s). My other tip is don’t use the steam oven (if you happen to have one) the fat from the suet blocked the tubes in mine and had to have the pump replaced when it was only two months old 😬

I use the same recipe my dad used - he cut it out from a newspaper years and years ago. We all like it as it is full of fruit and nuts, but not too boozy so lighter than most. I also use the spherical pudding mould I bought him so it’s full of memories. And yes to the slow cooker. My Instant Pot has a slow cooker function and the mould just fits nicely.

Nigel slaters with a few tweaks ( don't like mixed peel ) www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/christmaspudding_71054/amp

So tasty and I make 6 every year for us and family.

I use the Avoca cookbook one which is gorgeous and has healthy amounts of Guinness in it. I just remove the almonds because I'm allergic to nuts.
