Ocado - any good?

I am fed up with Tesco online as they are not issuing any money off vouchers at the moment so I decided I may as well go Ocado.

Is this a good move? Delivery was £2 for a 1 hour delivery window where Tesco would have been £6 for a 2 hour window plus they have given me a voucher for a free bottle of wine next time so there are some financial advantages....

I was using Ocado regularly but then they suddenly introduced a delivery charge of £5 which I was a bit cheesed off about.

Their range isn't terribly good in some areas, but the quality is great, and they were always prompt or early when delivering - and, most importantly, I could usually place an order with only 1 or 2 days' notice.

But the prices were shocking. When my regular shop tipped over £200 for the week I knew that was time to do something drastic!

I started meal planning, went back to Sainsbury and reckon my weekly bill must be around £70-80 less!

But I have had a letter from them today explaining about matching Tesco prices and a £15 off voucher, so I may try them again. Now that I'm meal planning, maybe it will work out cheaper anyway.

the only thing that annoys me is you can't buy an orange etc...but a bag full.

I love Ocado. Some of the time slots now cost £4 (they were all free) but some are still free and some just £1 if that's a consideration. They are very, very, rarely late. But sometimes early, but they phone to see if it's OK with you.

I haven't had any items substituted for weeks but when they do, it's usually a sensible choice.

I don't actually find them that expensive. Perhaps it depends on what you buy?

My first delivery was very prompt and the driver was particularly helpful. No items were out of stock.

They delivered chilled wine which was great as we had just run out.

They have given me a voucher for an £8 bottle of wine next time.

I spent the same as I would at Tesco then stopped shopping, so have not spent any more unless I end up buying a lot of items during the week.

So I think I will try them again next week.
