Mumsnet hivemind, I'm after your thoughts.

I want to take / make / provide some nibbles at a 3 day outdoor event I am attending. They need to be portable (travel for 48 hrs), yummy and easy to eat with no utensils or crockery (we're outdoors).

I've attended before and been given such delicacies as tunnocks teacakes from a Scots contingent! So would like to so similar....but am at a loss when thinking of what the English / London / Kent / Sussex equivalent might be.

I've thought as far as gypsy tart...maybe bitesize? Or mini scones (will they keep long enough?!) Any ideas for treats I could bring would be amazing.

I'm a cook not an experienced baker, but have a kitchen and happy to have a go at any new suggestions!

My mum always used to make a massive Tupperware tub of cherry or sultana flapjacks for our self catered trips. They last really well, everyone loves them. I don’t know if flapjack is an English thing but it immediately sprang to mind!

She also sometimes made coconut pyramids or a fruit loaf (you can slice it before you go … it gets better as every day passes).

You could also have a go at making vanilla fudge.

Ooh fudge! Flapjacks! Yum!
parkin gets better with each day so does gingerbread. Don’t know if it’s local tho.

Flapjacks? Shortbread? Homemade ginger biscuits? Cheese biscuits made with a really strong english cheddar?

Individual Bakewell tarts. Malt loaf, fairy cakes. Cheese straws, scones, biscuits, Parkin, sausage rolls. ....

Surely you can get inspiration from the Protestant Traybake thread. I love this thread.

Here's some ideas:

There's LOADS of regional bakes. Loads are really similar eg Eccles cake / Banbury cake /Fat Rascals...

Do they have to be tied to a region? You could do old fashioned things like peppermint creams, coconut ice, that sort of thing.
