My Mother and DP want to a lamb stew today. I don't eat meat and when I did lamb was my least favourite! How long will it take to cook?

Depends on the cut of meat and type of stew. It really varies.

I normally allow at least an hour unless veg are precooked. Often I'll start a stew off onthe stove until simmering then put in oven for 45 minutes. Did a hotpot last night , fried off lamb and onions and mixed with root veg with sliced potato topping took about an hour and quarter on 220.

I've often wanted to ask, what is the difference between "frying off" and "frying"

LIZS · 20/04/2008 11:51

lol I call frying off just to seal not to cook through.

frying off to seal and frying to cook through...

Small chunks of lamb.

Will tell them to allow 2 hrs
