Shall I just throw it away?

Smell it - is it OK - or does it turn your stomach ?

I would chuck it tbh - unless it smells absolutely fine and there is nothing else in the house!

2sugars · 18/04/2008 20:47

I think the fact that you've posted on here would mean whatever you did with it, you wouldn't enjoy it. Don't think I would.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/04/2008 20:48

Thing is I've already eaten.
It's good stuff from our local butcher. It looks and smells fine.

I'm wondering if it's worth cooking something and putting it in the fridge tonight for tomorrow?

i wouldn't hesitate to eat it.

just cooked a chicken that was supposed to be used by today.

2sugars · 18/04/2008 20:50

Did they tell you a use-by date? Or are you guessing? Only ask 'cos our butcher doesn't, which always leaves me in a complete quandry. You may be worrying unnecessarily. When did you buy it?

They put stickers on the ready weighed packs.

Thing is it won't be good tomorrow if it's raw, but will it be if I was to cook it tonight and fridge it, or even bung it in the freezer?

OP posts:
ladymariner · 18/04/2008 21:08

Cook it and then it will keep, if it looks and smells fine then it will be.

2sugars · 18/04/2008 21:09

I've never understood that theory - I think my Mum holds it too. How does cooking something arrest its 'going off'. Or magically refresh it? Hmm? Hmm?

ladytophamhatt · 18/04/2008 21:10

'd cook a bolognese tyoe sauce and chuck it in teh freezer.
It'll be fine.

2sugars · 18/04/2008 21:10

But yes, if you cook & freeze tonight (and tonight it seems ok) you can theoretically use it when you like.

ladytophamhatt · 18/04/2008 21:11

cooking kills any bacteria that could make you ill 2suagrs.

Like sterilising it I suppose....

madamez · 18/04/2008 21:12

Either cook it or freeze it if it smells OK.
