Hi,

I'm making a casserole which has a pint of cider in it, cooked for 50 mins. Am planning on serving it to DD, 17 months.

Just wanted to check this is safe. I am right in thinking all the alcohol will be gone? Last minute panic!

thanks!

Its just the flavour of the cider that will be left, so don't worry. Don't give her the sherry trifle for afters though!

Yay. Thanks. Dinner in oven and was just sitting down to a large glass of wine (been one of those days) when I sort of thought, err hang on...

thanks for the quick replies. x

Please do not put alcohol in toddler foods. It is not just the flavor that remains but also trace amounts of the alcohol which is toxic to young children. This is only safe to do in adult foods. It's terrible that there are people on here telling you this was fine but whats worse is you are asking such an important question on a forum where ignorance is bound to abound. This is the internet. Ask these things of your doctor please.

Check out the video on foodnetwork.com of rachel ray cooking a recipe for chicken stew or something similar. She even says, 'dont worry, the alcohol will cook out. Though i have been told to mention this meal is not safe for your youngsters as not ALL the alcohol actually cooks out'.
