I have noticed that Aldi has veg straws but are advertised as 3+years whereas Tesco's has the exact same veg straws but for 9+ months there is only 3 ingredients in the difference but none seem to be harmful to children under 1. Anyone got any ideas?

Is it a texture/size/choking issue thing? Do they dissolve the same or is one crunchier/doesn’t soften as quickly for example?

From what I see both looks the same, break up and dissolve the same and have a hollow tube structure. It really does just look like the 3 ingredients, the ones for 3+ even have less salt. I'm at a loss as to why they are specifically for 3+ years on.

Maybe there are additional checks to say it's ok for babies and they're keeping costs down by avoiding that? After all, 99% of food that your baby eats doesn't say it's suitable for babies on it, you just use your common sense!

I don't know about baby food but for toys to be certified for under 3's there are extra tests so costs, could be the same for food

I assume it's that Aldi haven't bothered to go through the safety checks to get it certified for a younger age.
