Hi all, going on holiday with 5 other families soon (house for 25!) and the idea is that each family takes a turn to cook.

Any ideas? I’m thinking chilli possibly but another family may well nab that idea.

What a nightmare, especially if there are any food allergies, vegans etc in the families. Hardly a relaxing holiday! Think it would have to be cold meats, salads , rolls. Hope they have enormous cooking pans in your rental. Think the jacket potatoes with various fillings is the best idea.if anyone in the group loves catering , ask them to do your turn in exchange for something you agree on!

I would allow a lot more than 2 mini tortillas per person, especially for teenage boys!

That's allowing for 4 items per person. Some people will have mire some less. The OP will probably know what kind of appetites she is dealing with overall though.

I'd make loads of these. Good with bread - crusty or garlic bread. You can add par-boiled potatoes to it as well.

Agreed. Mine would see that as a canapé. 😂

I've cooked curry for that many and it's a logistical hell trying to get rice and chapatis and naan breads ready at the same time as the curry.

Does the rental have a freezer? If so I'd be tempted to cook some lasagne and fish pies and shepards pies in advance, freeze and take frozen wrapped up in towels and then defrost when you want them and serve with salad or peas.

The idea of cooking for that many on holiday fills me with dread!

If no freezer then slow cooker is a v good idea. There's plenty of chicken or pork recipes out there that could be served with a baked spud and salad. Personally i would steer well clear of rice.

Who would eat less than 2 mini tortilla wraps? They're tiny.

OP, good luck, I wouldnt enjoy this and I do like cooking and hosting, its the sheer scale of it and not being in my kitchen that would stress me out.

Are there no dietary restrictions? Lucky if so! That’s surely unusual these days.

Or just general fuss pots.
