Hungry and windy one year old

Please, please help if you can - am desperate for ideas and advice.

We have a hungry and windy one year old who has problems with wind (burping) in the evenings and sometimes during the night. This is really starting to impact on our sleep as it can cause lots of waking in the night with painful trapped wind.

We have attributed it to some foods (like melon, raw apple, raw pear; fruit fromage frais) but equally sometimes can't pin point it to any food and is more to do, we think, with how/the speed he drinks his evening milk. Browns bottle, avent, beaker with spout all the same.

The last couple of nights have been even worse as he seems to have had a huge appetite for milk. He normally has 6-7oz at bed time; two nights ago he had 19oz over the course of two hours (with lots of wind in between).

He started crawling two weeks ago, no difference to the wind, maybe it's made him hungrier?

Does anyone have any ideas what could help, or has anyone experience similar? I am now so tired after three very difficult evenings that I am starting to find it really upsetting. I never thought we would still be having this at one year old.

Have you considered ditching the bottle and replacing it with a beaker if you think it might be the bottle causing wind?
Has he got reflux?
Have you seen a gp?

Have tried a beaker for about a week but had the same problem. Am going to try a diffrent one tomorrow, We had been using one with a free flow spout. During the day he doesn't use a spout at all, just drinks from the edge of the cup, but when we change from a bottle at last/before bed feed he would only use the cup if it had a spout. Thought I would try a non-spill spout tomorrow. Have bought a couple to try.

GP not sure, prescribed infant gaviscon but it made no difference at all - is referring us to paediatrician, but who knows how long it will take. In the meantime I am so tired I can't hold a proper conversation let alone function at work (I work part time).

I feel like there is such limited support for mums where we live, and am so stressed with this now and just cry lots in the evening.
