like a sweet potato?

OverMyDeadBody · 06/04/2008 11:52

I'd chuck it in a Jamaican lamb stew!

fryalot · 06/04/2008 12:05

yes, like a sweet potato.

Don't want to put it "in" anything - I had yam once and it was delicious, so I want it on its own so I can recreate that deliciousness iykwim.

So I bought one.

Could I roast it?

Yes you can roast it, normally its eating boiled or in soup.

MrsMattie · 06/04/2008 12:07

yes, roasted yam is quite nice, although depends on the type of yam - sometime scan be a bit glutinous. You could into chunks or thick slices and boil it. It doesn't mash that well, so eat as is. Very nice, mild, sweet flavour but a bit boring on it's own.

Cut it up into small pieces and season with rosemary, oil & salt and roast. Yumza!
