How many sweet treats do you have..?

Per week? And what kind of stuff? Include everything, biscuits etc.

I really want to reduce it for health reasons, I am scared when I think about the crap that I eat.

Far too many tbh I have something every day.
I have pretty much eaten all our supplies so last night all that was left was 30g of minstrels so that’s the only treat I had yesterday. I have previously chomped through a block of cooking chocolate in desperation but there wasn’t even any of that left last night!
I did once get rid of all refined sugar by going paleo. I did feel so much better, but I’m veggie now so finding it impossible to do Paleo. I’m sure my cholesterol is high but, as I’m very slim, it’s easy to ignore the crap I’m eating.

Yeah way too much. I have a bit of 90% chocolate about 4x a day 😂 and this week have had a couple of dairy milks as am premenstrual.

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 15/05/2024 07:53

I had berries and cream yesterday.
At a birthday party on Saturday I had a small slice of cake.
I also had some smarties 😬

At home, very little, I dont buy cakes and biscuits and sweets with the groceries. I get DH a six pack of crisps and a multi pack of bars for his pack ups and thats it

At work its a bit harder, I work in a cafe/restaurant so there is always something to tempt me. Thankfully its only 4 days a week :)

Since last Thursday I have had an icecream, a packet of skips, two tray bakes and a large handful of mixed nuts

I eat chocolate every day, but I have a 5 month old breastfed baby with the appetite of a 16 year old athlete and who doesn't sleep for longer than 3 hours per night. I don't drink caffeinated drinks, so I perk myself up with a chocolate bar mid morning and/or mid afternoon.

I sometimes also have an ice cream or a small slice of cake (like a little Mr killing sized thing) for dessert, although most of the time it's fruit and yogurt.

When not breastfeeding, my appetite is much less and I also don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I'd maybe eat 2 desserts/chocolate bars/ice creams/etc per week. Usually after Sunday lunch and the other is usually a random midweek treat

Currently dieting but have a very small treat most days...like a square of chocolate or a mini kinder bar. I bought some cookies the other day and cut them up and had a piece over the course of a few days. Sometimes I buy macarons....they are relatively small and feel very indulgent.

Dates are good if you're craving something sweet

Pitstop1986 · 15/05/2024 08:49

It seems to be the trend at the moment to eat "healthy" brownies, cakes, biscuits, etc.

These are made mainly with wholefoods with dates or bananas for sweetness, for example, black bean brownies or baked oats.

Maybe have a look for a recipe that will satisfy your sweet tooth whilst still having some nutrition in there!

Peaceandquiet3638 · 15/05/2024 08:50

I don’t buy sweet, cakes, crisps, chocolate, biscuits etc in the weekly food shop as I WILL just eat them! I do bake biscuits/traybakes etc for lunch boxes every so often but I do freeze them pretty much straight away as again I will just eat them! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I don’t eat sweet stuff like that day to day as I don’t have it in but tbh it’s other people that sabotage it for me! My husband bought home a bar of chocolate yday so I ate some of that with him. I had an ice cream Sunday at a party.

Mishmashs · 15/05/2024 08:50

i guess it’s all about balance? Some weeks I have very little, some like this week a lot - lemon posset on Thurs and Fri night, lemon cheesecake on Sunday and Monday nights, last night a delicious magnum rip off from Aldi, tonight and tomorrow I won’t have anything. Sometimes a biscuit during the day. Rarely buy a chocolate bar although my weakness is a snickers.

Happymagicdragon · 15/05/2024 08:51

Per week probably about 4 single size chocolate bars (like a mars bar or something). Maybe a cake or a muffin at the weekend. That's all really, I don't really snack otherwise and don't have dessert

Srx1 · 20/05/2024 01:13

Sorry everyone, I didn't get any notifications! 😅
I have something every day, I am breastfeeding and have lost lots of weight because of that and I am constantly hungry and I feel like I have more sugar cravings than normally, so similar to you @Pitstop1986
I should really get better at meal and snack prep as I often don't have something healthy ready and then just grab something quick and sweet on the go. Also after a long and hard day with a toddler, the thought of a dessert keeps me going 😅 I feel bad though as I'm still breastfeeding.

I have tried healthy brownies and all that but the problem is, I don't have the time to make all these things, I'm really struggling for free time as it is.. I love dates, and fruit in general but you know how it is- you want chocolate and similar stuff 😩

@Srx1 how old is your little nursling? I always find that when I first start breastfeeding and from 4-6 months I'm ravenous. Porridge is the only thing that fills me up and I get DH to make a few different flavours of overnight oats to have in the fridge for a quick and satisfying snack. If I see a reel/video for a new flavour that looks good, I send them over to him. One recipe is chocolate with or without peanut butter, where you add cocoa powder- maybe that'll help your sweet tooth? I don't really go for the whole adding protein or get the current protein obsession, but I know a few people who put a scoop of protein powder into their oats to keep then fuller for longer. Personally, I find if you make with milk and/or add yogurt there's plenty of protein in there!

If you have no time for meal prep, maybe have a look in the supermarket for cereal bars or small chocolate bars that are around 100 calories each and have them with a peice of fruit to bulk them out. Or Nutella on toast, so that you have the fibre in the bread to fill you up, but a sweet hit from the Nutella (just put on a thin layer- don't go piling it on!)

Srx1 · 25/05/2024 00:13

@Pitstop1986 My little nursling is not so little anymore 😅18 months and very much boob obsessed. I have 10kg less than I did pre baby 😯

Oooh that sounds lovely, I love oats and used to make different flavoured overnight oats - I need to get back to making them more often! Hopefully it will help. I think ideally meal prep is the way to go!

Ohhh if I have nutella at home--- I can't help myself! 😅😅

Far too many. Trying to think back this week.

Today - a chocolate covered strawberry my DD made, some maltesers and fizzy rainbow belts at the cinema
Yesterday - four profiteroles after dinner
Wednesday- a donut after dinner
Tuesday - a Magnum after dinner
Monday - a chocolate filled cupcake after dinner

Believe it or not this is a huge reduction for me. The amount of sweet, sugary rubbish I used to eat was scary. I am on a one meal a day diet but as you can see I always have something else too as well as the one meal.

A big concern of mine is actually my teeth. Eating sugary snacks between meals really just isn’t good for your teeth at all and that’s what might encourage me to reduce things even more.
