Frying questions

I have never fried food, and don't know where to start, but my kids have asked me for donuts, so....

Shallow frying. How deep is the oil? Which oil? What do I do once I've finished? Can it be reused? How do I dispose of it?

So many questions😁 I might end up just buying some instead🤣

I bought a mini donut maker and it is really easy to use. It was about £15. You just pour a little oil into the moulds, heat , add a spoon of batter, close again, then couple minutes later, lovely fresh little donuts.

Buy them or buy a donut maker which is like a waffle/sandwich toaster machine

If you dont do fried food as a rule then you are going to a lot of trouble for a small treat

You need to deep fry donuts - they cant touch the bottom of the vessel - be that an electric deep fat fryer or a saucepan of oil on the hob

You need a couple of litres of either sunflower or vegetable oil

Yes you can reuse the oil. Let it get cold and then filter it through a sieve lined with kitchen paper and pour back into the bottle.

Do not dispose of oil down the sink. I take mine when its done to the recycling centre which has a collection point for cooking oil, but that means I have to store it till we are going that direction, so its kept in the garage

Pop to Sainsbury's or morrisons and buy some.
Morrisons would be my kids choice or doughnut or ring ones from Sainsbury's.
