Cheaper Gluten free bread?? ANYWHERE?

Although I do not have coeliac disease I find I digest gluten free bread much better. I am particularly fond of the pitta breads that Tesco and Sainsbury sell.

But they are £1.99 for four. A ridiculous price dont you think?
Does anyone know where I can buy reasonably priced GF bread? Or a good recipe to buy my own.

We make our own stuff, as the pre-made items are SO expensive, as you say.

coeliac.info/suppboard/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=5e95bf47fbbd091f9f11ca158022cd1c

there are lots of tried and tested gf bread recipes - anything done with a prescription mix (e.g. Juvela) could be substituted for with Dove's Farm gf flour and baking powder or yeast depending on the recipe.

The board is also about to test Brazilian Cheese Breadrolls: www.livaad.nl/Prod38engels.htm

If you look here: members2.boardhost.com/glutenfree/ several members there are going to test it and should post results when they do.

The general consensus is that home-made gf bread is much nicer than bought. My son makes the "pan bread" recipe (posted on the supplementary board mentioned above) at university - it's very quick and easy and you can do lots of variations. It can be eaten cold but has never lasted long enough to see if it is edible the next day!
