Can you help create a new routine?

After a bit of a break from work, I'm heading back to working in an office, 9-5, for a new job which starts soon. Very excited about the job, but I've gotten very comfortable in my home routine and need some help in 'the new normal'!

Current routine:
I tend to wake up not feeling hungry - I feel full (or maybe that's bloatedness?). I normally have 2 cups of coffee by 12pm and first meal of the day is anything between 12.30 and 2pm. Might snack when DCs get home from school and then family dinner at 6.30 or 7pm.

This might sound like I'm doing a 16:8 but it's not on purpose! I just feel full in the mornings!

New routine:
I'll have to be up at least an hour earlier than old routine and on the road at 7.30am every day. I will definitely need to eat something before lunchtime. I won't manage breakfast before leaving the house but what can I have when I get to work that I can eat at my desk and that isn't weird for colleagues? Banana? Yoghurt? Something gentle on the stomach but with a boost of energy so I can last till lunchtime? I'll probably need an afternoon desk snack too that will last until dinnertime.

Scared of change but also excited!

I would try things like a bagel with cream cheese, overnight oats, a pastry and fruit.

Honestly, you may not find you are all that more hungry. I, like you, tend to wake up not feeling hungry and would naturally not normally eat until 11am ish. When I go into the office, I do force myself to eat on the train, simply because it's convenient, not because I'm all that hungry.

Or something I often do is to have lunch #1 and lunch #2. So whatever you're having for lunch, just have a portion late morning and a portion early afternoon, especially if you aren't really a breakfast foods sort of person, or don't want to pack lots of different things.

Thanks for the support! I just think I'll be ravenous or constantly eating. So easy to snack at home! Maybe the adrenalin will keep me going, at least for the first while!

Maybe overnight oats? Is that weird to eat at your desk?

I usually start work at 12pm. Im in the car for 11am. I dont take breakfast

But I know I will be hungry by 12 so I take a few baby bels or cut up pieces of cheese to nibble on on my way in

I do take yoghurt and fruit/overnight oats to eat later

I often have overnight oats at my desk. Can also mix it up with grated apple, sprinkle of cinnamon, and raisins, or add a banana on top, or berries. Not weird at all. My boys often have it too for breakfast and one will eat it on the bus to school!

Other colleagues bring some muesli in a Tupperware and a little bottle of milk and eat it out of the Tupperware!

Bagel with cream cheese also sounds yummy.

I've seen builders also bringing breakfast sandwiches, and then lunch sandwiches, so you could do a sarnie for breakfast and then salad for lunch. I sometimes take a soup thermos for lunch, or leftovers, so a morning sandwich wouldn't be that weird!

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Or something I often do is to have lunch #1 and lunch #2

Never thought of this and I'll definitely give this one a try - like the DCs have 'little lunch' and 'big lunch'.

I was up early today and had a banana smoothie which lasted me till lunchtime. Just have to be organised to make this the night before. Lots of adjustments to the routine!
