Bold Beans Queen Butter Beans

I'm obsessed with them! But they're so expensive. I saw the founder on Dragons Den and she said that they select their varieties for flavour rather than yield which is why they're so much nicer than regular tinned or jarred beans but also explains the price. Does anyone know of a variety of dried butter bean I could soak and cook myself for a similar result. Perhaps from a fancy deli or something?

All I can say is, never try the Brindisa ones … 😆

And it has taught me that what I'm looking for are Judion beans. I'm going to get some dried ones and try those...

There really is no going back is there.

I remember buying the Bold Bean co beans when they were on offer and dh was outraged that I'd buy them when the tinned ones are so much cheaper. But the thing is that if I'd bought a steak or a piece of fish, I'd have spent more and it would have only done one meal. So I'm not sorry - ha!

Off to look at Brindisa now...

I've always cooked my own dried beans because taste is so much better than tinned. Dried butter beans not that widely available, so I presume not many people buy them. Honestly, Bold Bean Co are better than soaking and cooking your own. Plus no more dealing with the random dried pulse packs that can take hours on the hob to cook sufficiently!

Yes, still cheaper than steak, even at the rate I eat them.

I find the pressure cooker takes a lot of the work out- it's great for black beans and chick peas but I've not tried butter beans. Maybe it's not worth it then.
