Another yogurt making question..

Hi there,
This is a question for any yogurt makers out there. I bought an Easi-Yo and have been gradually perfecting the technique.
So far I've been using 2 tablespoons of previous yogurt, plus 2 teaspoons of powdered milk, then topping up with UHT... and bunging in Easi-Yo overnight. I like this because I don't need to heat the milk... save on the washing up. I've sometimes strained it thro' muslin, to make it even thicker and creamier... and it is lovely.
But we get through it like anything, and are always running out of UHT.
Does anyone know - can I make it with normal milk? And if so, do I have to heat it first? If so, how hot (without having to go out and buy fancy thermometer... If I could do it in the microwave, better still...)
thanks!

you boil it and then cool it to blood temp, like babys bottle. could do it in microwave, i suppose, but Ive never tried.

So then do I put it in the Easi-Yo with boiling water to keep it warm? (Or is that not needed, having warmed the milk itself?)
thanks!

Boil it then let it cool until you can comfortably hold a (clean!) finger in for several seconds.

I just do mine in an ordinary flask, so easy.
