Baby not drinking enough milk

My dd does not like drinking milk. She was not an enthusiastic breast-feeder and has not been an enthusiastic bottle-feeder. She is 7 months old now and I am concerned that some days she drinks less than 10 fl oz of milk. I give her water with her meals (she is a fairly good eater) but she doesn't drink much.
I have tried various different formulas to see if some appeal more than others but I don't think it is the flavour as more often than not she won't let me put the bottle anywhere near her mouth.
Help!!

Have you tried milk in beaker or a different variety of bottle & teat?

Give her dairy things (assuming she can have dairy) and other foods rich in calcium and she should be fine. Grate cheese into meals for example or offer her yoghurts & fromage frais (both may be high in sugar - use a natural one and mix fruit purees in if you're concerned). Maybe mix a cereal or porridge up with the milk for breakfast?

If she has a varied diet, I wouldn't think there would be a problem. They don't have to drink their full quota of milk, it can be in foods or in the form of dairy products.

Thanks Soup Dragon, I have tried various containers with no better luck. I find there is a limit to how much other dairy I can get down her. She has at least one 2oz yoghurt a day and I mix cream cheese into her veggies. I do make her breakfast cereal with milk too, but that is only 1 or 2oz of milk.
I've noticed that her best milk feeds are at 6.30pm, although that is only 4 fl oz and at 4 or 5am when she may take 5/6 fl oz and then that is pretty much it for the day.

Bugsy, I know of two children (both girls)who 'gave up' drinking milk at around the same age as your dd. cup of milk before bed. The other decided she didn't like milk, cheese or youghurts/fromage frais. Her Mum tries to give her other calcium-rich foods such as broccoli, cauliflower etc. There are loads of quite unexpected foods which are great for calcium and this has been the subject of another thread here. Sorry, I can't remember any more at the moment - busy day at work!!

Sorry, last message should have read 'one of them, now two and a half now has a cup of milk before bed'.

I breastfed until 16 months. My dd then wouldn't touch cows milk. We tried everything - different cups, bottles, teats etc, no luck. We just left it, with no ill effects. She likes yoghurt and has milk with her breakfast, but that's all really. I did worry initially, but she's perfectly healthy. Contrary to popular belief dairy products aren't good for humans anyway. As long as her diet is balanced and she's getting calcium from other sources (non-animal sources are far better for us) then don't worry about the milk.

My DS never seemed to like milk much but he was always a good healthy looking baby which stopped me worrying too much. I used to mix it in his food as much as I could. DS never had a bottle with more than 4oz in it until he was about 18 mths. He's 2 1/2 now and fighting fit and wait for it....loves milk! Just remember we don't like everything, why should they?

Thanks Enchanted that cheers me up. DS was such a milk guzzler and still is, I am probably worrying more about dd than I would otherwise. She does seem perfectly healthy, so I'll just let her do it her way!
