Errr you put it in a pan of water and boil it until it’s cooked to how you want it. 4.5 mins for soft, 7ish for hard.

Just boil for 13 minutes for hard boiled

SummaLuvin · 06/03/2024 17:56

as per PP you just boil it, and depending on how hard you want it determines how long it takes.

That being said the overnight soy eggs in this link can be done in advance and eaten cold, so could be a quick snack option if you have a few minutes the evening before.

What sort of egg emergency needs one faster than the normal 10 mins or so it takes in a pan?!

BasilParsley · 06/03/2024 18:01

You can scramble it or make an omelette in a couple of minutes...

Fried or scrambled is probably the quickest way to cook an egg

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 06/03/2024 18:07

I suppose adding sugar to the water would raise the boiling point so that might be quicker. I haven’t done any tests though.

13 minutes! I give mine about 5, certainly no more than 6 minutes. Soft-boiled eggs get less so they still have a soft, semi-liquid yolk and a set but not rubbery white.

Omelette is probably the quickest. I like to cook scrambled eggs slowly so they stay really creamy, but even then it only takes a few minutes.

Hard-boiled eggs keep well in the fridge for a few days.

For a hard-boiled egg put the egg in cold water and bring to the boil. Set the timer for 5 minutes once the water in boiling. I usually boil a batch of 4-6 and then keep in the fridge once cooled (cool them quickly with cold water!)

For soft-boiled bring water to the boil and then add egg/set timer for 5 minutes.

Is this about the " new" boiled egg in the airfryer? I've tried it.. they won't peel and outside is rubbery.

Get an electric egg cooker. I was highly sceptical. Dh was insistent that we needed one. Life changing. Takes a few minutes and you can set it for doneness, from dippy egg to fully cooked slice for salads egg.

eggs in a small pot.. cover with cold water. Bring to boil. as soon as on a good boil turn it off. cover. 12 minutes on timer.. dump out of hot pot into something cold.. run very cold water for a couple min. put in fridge. done. no grey ring of shame around your eggs
