Im getting confused with all the different foods that claim to be good for gut bacteria. What are the differences between the above? Which one is best for gut microbiome? What about plain natural yogurt, that's full of bacteria too?

Kefir was shown on a programme to improve healthy gut bacteria the most when stool samples were tested 3 months after the people first started taking either probiotic capsules, yakult or unflavoured kefir.

Eating a wide range of fruit and vegetables also contributes.

I make my own Kefir. It's much easier to make than yoghurt as you just make it at room temperature, no heating milk involved.

I found kefir hard to make- at least it tasted disgusting.

I think you need to eat a variety of lively foods- yogurt, kefir, live sauerkraut, blue cheese, Brie- and lots of raw veg to give the bacteria something to work on.

It’s done me good!

You should try starter cultures (as they have a lot of probiotic strains in contrast to store brought yogurt) and make kefir or yogurt at home.
Look at Gethealthcultivated, they have nice starters
