Making kefir yoghurt at home

I already make Greek yoghurt using my Instant Pot and use Yeo Valley's natural organic yoghurt as a starter, I use UHT milk so I can do a cold start process.

I have bought Yeo Valley Kefir yoghurt (ingredients Organic milk fermented with live kefir cultures) and am wondering if I can use this as a starter to make Kefir yoghurt as opposed to fermenting kefir grains. It maybe that this isn't going to turn out to be a genuine kefir yoghurt, but would it have the same live cultures of the Yeo Valley kefir yoghurt?

Basically we love the Greek yoghurt but would like the benefit of the kefir without me faffing around fermenting kefir grains which I have made kefir milk from in the past.

You can, but I find it weakens after a few goes.

Yogurt is made in higher temp which might not be great for the kefir bacteria. Iirc the max point for kefir making is 30c. I always assumed kefir yogurts are made separate and blended later

@Grilledsquid I hadn't considered the temperature. I'll try a blend, making kefir milk and a separate yoghurt and see how that goes.

If you are anywhere near Barnsley/Wakefield I can give you some live Kefir pearls.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads thank you for the lovely offer but I already have some. But this is why I do love Mumsnet, because there are some incredible people on here helping people out.
