Dh has just been diagnosed with cancer. We are waiting on a treatment plan. We do eat fairly healthy but I want to do something to be proactive in looking after him as well as I can. I want to stay away from diet crazes etc and from googling cancer diets. Any recommendations on heathy diet book /website recommendations or your own heathy recipes please.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. All the best with the treatment.
We’ve really cut down on red meat (now saved for high days and holidays) and replaced it with seafood and pulses. We now cook:
Salmon burgers healthylivingjames.co.uk/bbq-salmon-burger/

Try to hold off any major changes until he next sees a doctor and can ask the same question, just one example is if he has chemo coming up and is on the slim side they might want him to put on a bit of weight beforehand as chemo messes with your taste buds and appetite.

Very sorry to hear about this, OP.

Based on the experience of my own DH, I second the advice to ask at every stage about recommendations for both diet and exercise - eg both surgeon and oncologist, if surgery followed by chemo is the pathway. Others such as chemo nurses and dieticians may also have advice.

DH’s surgeon was a big fan of moderate exercise. But that may be individual. Dietary advice from both consultants was just ordinary healthy eating, more fish, less meat, be strict about the 14 units/wk, and there was no such thing as too many green veg. There were also some restrictions during chemo.

DH has had no recurrences (yet). I am not completely feeling it but his doctors consider him cured. Very best wishes to your DH.

Sorry about your DH. I have no experience with cancer, but I do really rate the Dr Rupy Aujla books - there is one called Doctor's Kitchen, and I'm sure there is at least one other. But if you don't want to commit to buying that, he posts lots of recipes on Instagram.

Time for a dietitian. Appropriate nutrition and mixing with pharmaceuticals needs proper advice.
