Sweet 'truffles'

Talking about school dinners here. Our school used to make 'truffles' for pudding. So lovely I used to eat them with a small spoon an atom at a time.
They were the consistency of playdoh, the size and shape of golfballs, covered with chocolate sprinkles, a light tan/beige underneath.

Any idea how to make, anyone had them, any idea what I'm on about?

Golf balls!

I remember those sort of a truffle but not so big and not at school! We just had tapioca.

Anyway, I know them as rum truffles...your school sounds wild!

The sprinkles are called vermicelli.

Ooh rum truffles! So could follow that recipe but minus the rum to replicate maybe. Are they playdoh consistency?

Have looked them up. They look too chocolatey. The only chocolate present in ours was the vermicelli. The truffle itself was a lighter beige colour.

Something like this, perhaps?

You could reduce the cocoa powder to a minimum, to lessen any chocolate taste and make them lighter coloured.

We used to make and eat these as children. Digestive biscuits, crushed, mixed with cocoa powder and butter I think. Coated in cocoa powder/vermicelli. Possibly drinking chocolate rather than cocoa.

I’m Australian so have no idea what you are talking about but my first thought is biscuit crushed with condensed milk then rolled in something.

OK, fab, some coherence of recipe ideas here! Will try and post pic!
Digestives would make sense as they are my problem food (eat too many) and I loved these truffles!

Could it be like these brigadeiros?

These sound like “Rum Balls” which are a great Aussie tradition.
