Sponge cake storage!

Baking advice please!

I've just baked a vanilla sponge cake for a party on Sunday - I don't really want to ice it today, so would it keep better if I put it in the fridge or airtight cake carrier for 48 hours?

Should I clingfilm it (when it's cooled of course)?

Thanks!

Not the fridge, an air tight container or air tight cake tin will do. Oh and no cling film , it's not necessary if using an air tight container.

I'd go with an airtight container as well. Fridge might dry it out.

I would cling film and freeze personally. They defrost very quickly in a hour or too.

Freeze it. The bring it out when you want to ice it

I use a cake cover thing. Good for transporting it too

First choice freeze it.
Second choice airtight container.

My granny used to freeze them double wrapped in cling film

I would freeze it. Also frozen cake is much easier to ice.

I wouldn't bother to freeze it for just 2 days. Definitely not the fridge, I use metal cake tins with tight fitting lids. For keeping for longer periods, frozen in those zipper bags, with all the air pushed out.
