Frozen Green Soya Beans

Can anyone tell me if you need to do something special with them or do you just nuke them in the microwave and serve? I have to admit I don't even know what they taste like, just saw, Lowers cholesterol and thought I'll give it a go for dh sake!

cooked already just add to the dish while cooking ... read the back of the bag in tesco's the other day - was intrigued!

I boil them for a few minutes and serve them like peas. They are rather yummy to just munch on I find

We've just discovered soya beans, and we have them with nearly every meal, now. They have a beautiful, firm texture.

Nice and firm, not at all like peas, more like chickpeas maybe? No, not really like anything else, maybe a bit like raw hazelnuts?

I absolutely adore them. I just defrost a bowl and eat as they are.
Otherwise, good in any salady/rice thing.

At the moment my lunch nearly every day is soy beans,poached salmon,and brown rice with a dressing of soy sauce,sesame oil, rice vinegar and wasabi folded through it.

Zap it in the micro at work and it is bloody delicious.

Don't know how to describe them really, but they are nice - and full of protein. I always have a bag in the freezer now.

There was a chap in the supermarket the other day, on the phone to his wife, asking her what to get as they were completely out of peas.
"They have these soya beans, but I'm not buying them, they're artificial, they're irradiated, everything man-made is irradiated...."

only had them at Wagamama (edamame) as a starter/side dish, with salt or dried chilli flakes and garlic salt - yummy and so good for you (perhaps not with lots of salt tho ! Dont overcook them, not so nice soft....soy sauce good on them too.

put in boilig water for 2 mins then eat, good source of protien.

stir into rice, chuck in stir fries, use to make tuna pasta salad...

OK my feedback.

I decided to have them "neat" as I've never tasted them before, so nuked it for 4 min on high, texture was firm, can't say that it taste of much on its own, but it has sustenance for sure. I made salmon to go with, which had a drizzle of sake vinegar, sesame oil, garlic oil salt and sugar, that actually makes a difference to the taste.

My verdict is, I think I will rather incorporate them into a dish from now on, they are a bit bland on the own.

Good move, SP. Like most beans, they don't go too well alone.

But keep up with them. They're a great contrast to a mushy dish, and they're very, very good for you, as you know.

We microwave them in a bowl without any water but a sprinkling of salt and covered with clingfilm - they're delicious. We eat them as a snack in front of the telly! Make sure not to overcook them though - they're horrible then. I think they take about 2 minutes.

I had them in a risotto and they were really good and looked nice as well, must remember to buy some later.
