Something that I can easily carry in my bag and that won't spill soup everywhere - max budget £20. Does such thing exist?

Does it need to keep the soup hot? If not, my Sistema soup mugs have never leaked.

on offer so in budget. Dc1 takes to school every day & no leaks so far.

Contigo flasks also very good but possibly not for soup.

Wannabemamas · 03/01/2024 14:05

@ThatsAnExcellentIdea ideally yes but we do have a microwave in the office so I guess not a must have

This was going to be my suggestion too.

We have the Thermos ones linked above and they are great, no leaks in school bags. Can't put them in the dishwasher though

Grimchmas · 03/01/2024 14:09

I have systema and thermos, both non-leaky. Although I do always put them in their own plastic bag (that I reuse) just in case!

AvocadoSurprise · 03/01/2024 14:13

I also recommend the Thermos King if you want hot food. My daughter used to take all sorts of hot meals to school in them instead of having school dinners, due to food allergy. The food was always piping hot & never spilled (& was much envied by her friends).
I also have a Sistema soup mug which I currently take to work & heat up there but I don't take the soup in it, as I don't have the same level of confidence about it not leaking due to the microwave steam release valve on the top.

These are going on sale soon at Aldi:

Crofton Food Flask for just £6.99. Check it out: www.aldi.co.uk/p/730468770276200

I've gone through quite a few until I found the perfect one, did cost about £20 but the cheaper ones have always leaked or didnt keep hot enough🙄 its by thermos, tall and slim (perfect fit in small work bag) think it was called lightweight direct drink flask, mine is rose pink but they did it in another colour. Sorry too technologically challenged to do links🙋‍♀️

Thereisnoname · 03/01/2024 14:16

Invest in a good thermos king food flask. Never leak and keep food piping hot, I've used mine for tears for everything and its fab.
Also have the drinks cup which is the best I've ever had, no other brands come anywhere near, regret not replacing like for like when it broke ( after 2 years continual use and lots of dropping on floor) a few months ago.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 03/01/2024 14:18

I have this https://shoreusable.com/products/your-food-flask-by-sho?variant=32992083378210&utmsource=google&utmmmedium=paid&utmcampaign=20352320361&utmmcontent=159631385708&utmterm=&gadid=685885262386&gclid=CjwKCAiAqNSsBhAvEiwAnntmxZpGEowvNDiJn9UZ0bNt4PCe1hmFTkEdEZbyLGQITwWCoS473eLTGhoCQKIQAvDBwE
I use it every day and it's never leaked. Keeps soup nicely hot until lunchtime. It annoyingly says it's not dishwasher safe, but I've risked mine and it seems fine.

TrivialSoul · 03/01/2024 14:18

We have the thermos linked above and love it, no leaks and a great spoon. Made the mistake of buying a very similar cheaper thermos one and while there were still no leaks, the spoon was plastic and smaller and it didn't keep things as piping hot.

Wannabemamas · 03/01/2024 14:19

Lots of votes for the Thermos one, thank you, will check it out!
The systema one is cheap and cute but doesn't seem fully leakproof, am I wrong?

Aldi have a food flask from tomorrow or possibly already in some stores and it's £6.99

herculepoirotsmoustache · 03/01/2024 14:37

If you can heat the soup up at work, you could freeze it in any old Tupperware and transport it to work frozen. No leaks! I still put mine in a food bag to stop any condensation making my bag wet.

FingersCrossedFor2024 · 03/01/2024 14:41

We have the thermos king food flask too and it’s great. You can get them in bigger tescos stores for £20, or the red one is on offer at £17.25 today on amazon.

FingersCrossedFor2024 · 03/01/2024 14:42

I had a bad experience with a systema one when it leaked and ruined a really nice work bag.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/01/2024 14:51

If you have a microwave at work and can rely on being able to use it when you need it (i.e. no long queue of colleagues) I'd just go for a good microwaveable storage container. Lock & Lock have excellent lids and have never let me down by leaking in transit. When I was still working in an office I took lunch in regularly in one of these to reheat there.

WildCherryBlossom · 03/01/2024 15:03

I'm a huge fan of the chilly's food flasks.

WildCherryBlossom · 03/01/2024 15:09

Agree with @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g that the lock & lock ones are very good. We use those if there is a microwave available too. I love filling the freezer with portions of soup in lock & lock pots for future lunches.

One of the DC takes lunch to school and no microwave so the Chilly's one gets a lot of use there. Lunch is always piping hot.

This - never had a Lock n Lock container leak. They do good bowls and round containers.

Oooh somebody mentioning kilners made me remember something! The type of kilner that has the wire flip top lid and seal, one of my friends i stayed with made us stew and we took it as a packed lunch in one of those each, wrapped in scarf/clothing/ anything to insulate it well. It was still warm by lunch! If I were to trust anything more than the thermos (which has always been fine) it would be one of those bad boys!

HappyAsASandboy · 03/01/2024 18:01

I have two of the Thermos King flasks linked repeatedly. Had them 10 years since I bought them for taking hot baby food out with me!

They don't leak, the survive dropping, the lid makes a good bowl, and I dishwasher mine. The only issue with dishwashing seems to be that the foil colour coating deteriorates over time. Handwash if you want it to stay looking pretty!

I've also put hot sausages in mine and taken bread rolls - hot sausage baps on a day out!
