We are in the middle of a kitchen re-do. Very exciting but in the short term I have a borrowed air fryer, a microwave and a small table top oven. We are a family of 5 with big teens who eat and I work quite long hours so would love some easy peasy dinner ideas please.

Things I can chuck in the oven and also some air fryer ideas as I've never used one.

Air fryer fried chicken. I use boneless chicken thighs, chuck in a bag with cornflour and whatever seasoning you like e.g. paprika, chilli powder, lemon & herb. Shake it till all the chicken is coated, remove from bag, then airfry on 180 for about 20mins. Makes lovely crispy chicken.

Thanks @Sylver75 do you need to add any oil?

You can cook whatever you'd cook in the oven in the air fryer. But for a family of 5, unless it's a really big one, you might struggle. If it's big enough, you could do a whole roast chicken or similar. Or do things like crumbed chicken or fish, possibly in batches to get enough. You can overload on oven chips (fries are best if you're over filling rather than the fat home cut chips).

Personally, I'd borrow a camping stove - even just a single ring can be hugely helpful.

what do you normally eat? That might be an easier way for people to advise you on how to adapt your cooking accordingly.

I have a hob on the table top @JadziaD. I cook a lot and have an aga so tend to chuck things in the bottom oven in the morning for dinner.

I think fries in the air fryer is a good call I can do chicken legs / sausages etc in the oven.

What other veggies are good in the air fryer?

I roast tomatoes and onions in there a lot for lunch as it's quite quick - about 20 minutes. You can really pack them in too. I see a lot of people on here talking about doing fajitas in the air fryer with peppers, onions and strips of chicken - I don't because I'm happy to use the hob for that but that could be an option for you? Jacket potatoes come out well - I tend to microwave mine first then air fry.

Butternut are NOT good in the air fryer - I think it cooks too fast or something, they don't get that nice sweetish! Grin

Sausages are actually pretty good in the air fryer and also easy and again, you can pack them in to a large extent - just need to turn them a bit more than if they are more spread out.

If you are more of a slow cook person, maybe see if you can borrow a slow cooker to replace your lower oven in the Aga?

Baked potatoes cooked in microwave and finished off in air fryer. Baby potatoes flung in air fryer cook in about 20-25 mins. No oil needed.

Peppers air fry really well, for easy option you could buy frozen pre-sliced. Courgettes sliced and air fried taste amazing.

We love our air fryer!
