So Santa with a little help got me a ninja... after any tips and further purchases I should make or any amazing recipes please.
Also if you're using it for something processed (frozen battered fish for example) how do you know the temp and time?
Does it need to warm up or just on and GO?

It can be trial and error on timings for packaged food, but I usually start by subtracting 30%. You can always check with a temperature probe as well as visually if you're not sure.

Don't forget to give it a good shake once or twice during cooking to get everything crispy.

Preheating not essential, but for things I want really browned on the roast setting or crispy on air fryer mode I sometimes do for 2-3 mins.

Cleaning took a while to figure out, I now put the insert/trivet in the dishwasher but generally just wipe out the main bowl with kitchen towel unless it was something really messy, or smelly like fish. Then I'd recommend handwashing as the outside scratches easily and it takes up a lot of dishwasher room.

My Ninja has turned out to be great at random things like reheating chip shop chips and roast potatoes as well as actually cooking food from scratch.

Thanks so much that's really helpful. Do you have the silicone liners or any of the other accessories for it?

I have some greaseproof paper-type liners that I use for eg marinaded salmon fillets to minimise the mess, but otherwise I don't bother as it reduces room in the pan and the hot air cyclone tends to move it around.

Salmon fillets are brilliant in the air fryer by the way. Takeaway wantons, spring rolls and prawn toast heat up a treat too :)

I have a silicon liner for my AF.
Saves a lot of mess, goes in the DW, & makes it easy to get food in & out.

I'm an air fryer newbie too, I just bought a little on this afternoon. I am going to try chips in it tonight. Just a small question, if I just want to use it to heat up some bread of quiche is it okay to use it without oil?

elephantoverthehill · 30/12/2023 18:18

of or

Letstrysomethingnew · 30/12/2023 18:32

Yes - air fryer is non stick. But for quiche, I might be tempted to very lightly oil the trivet thing to prevent the bottom sticking. But it depends on the quiche!

Thanks. chips going on in 10 minutes. Wish me luck😀

I bought myself one yesterday. I did some sesame chicken last night. Just rolled the chicken strips in stock/soy/herbs/ and then rolled in oats/panko/chili flakes/onion & garlic powder & sesame seeds. Bunged in the drawer for 20 mins (shook the draw about a bit once) and then out it came.

It was cooked
It was crispy
BUT
It was a bit dry.

I think next time I would either brush with toasted sesame oil or glaze with something.
