Giant marrowfat peas

Someone randomly gave us a tin of these today. No idea what to do with them. Since my idea of cooking is sticking some fish fingers and chips in the oven, I thought I'd ask the more culinarily-inclined. Any ideas?

In Durham sis Ty years ago, they sold these in fish and chip shops, so you are in luck. Also nice with meat pies.

Heat them up, mash them a bit and serve with your fish fingers and chips, they are traditional in fish and chip shops as a side, mushy peas!

Thank you - I love mushy peas with fish and chips but have never made my own! And in my ignorance didn't realise that these were used for that.

@Goldbar

They also make nice pea and ham soup too. There will be recipes online. Bascially they are chip shop mushy peas. I think things were harder for previous generations of women tbf. No dishwashers, washer driers, nappies had to be boiled etc and in some cases having to light a fire to get the back boiler going for hot water. It wasn't easy to relax with your kids and do all of that.
