Heart shaped cake - only one tin!šŸ’•

Hi - this my first post in this section so I’m hoping one of you expert bakers might be able to answer my question.
i need to bake a three layered heart shaped cake. Can I get away with preparing one lot of cake batter and then baking each layer sequentially? That is, reusing the tin each time?
I think you’re not really supposed to do this because the baking powder starts acting immediately so the idea is to get the cakes into the oven asap. Would I get away with it though?! Thank you!!

If it's a straightforward Victoria sponge type batter mix then you won't need to worry. I'm a baker and do this often. I never normally use baking powder in my cakes though so wondering what your recipe is?

Oh thanks that’s really great to know! Sorry I didn’t really mean baking powder just shorthand for whatever is in the self raising flour! Yes it’s just a straight forward Victoria sponge. Thanks again!

Just make sure the tin in full cooled before adding the subsequent batches.

It will be fine. I do use a tsp of baking powder personally as per Delia Smith all in one sponge. Is it a big tin? Cooking time may be different to a standard 7-8 inch round.

Thanks also @RetinolStings @fruitpastille thanks for the tips also!
No the tin is a standard size - in fact in the past I’ve just used a round tin for the other half and trimmed it but that is not adequate these days! Thanks TikTok šŸ™„
