Ideas for roast alternative

Mum and her fussy partner are coming for Sunday dinner. Usually would do a roast but a bit bored of them. Mums partner loves a roast but is limited otherwise (we like him so happy to cater occasionally)

Doesn't like foreign food, cheese tomato, spice/soysauce etc. I'm looking for meat and two veg kind of food with a potato dish (doesn't like pasta or rice but bread is ok) but with a twist. Interesting potato dishes would be great too. I've done haskebacks and dauphinoir which went down well but struggling to think of something new.

I'd probably do a pie or beef wellington. Either steak or a creamy chicken one with mustard and spring onion mash, roasted carrots and green veg. But that's probably a bit simple for what you're after. Or a Shepard's/cottage pie.

What about a honey and mustard roast gammon joint or cola ham with a cauliflower broccoli & leek cheesey gratin. Or a slow cooked Greek style lamb. Nigellas 24 hour pork dish is incredible. Potato dishes I love are garlic and parmesan smashed baby potatoes, Boulangère potatoes, potato rosti, potato croquettes, fondant potato, Pommes duchesse, Tartiflette. But my favourite which again is probably a little simple for you are crispy Greek lemon roast potatoes.

Chicken & leek pie.
Sausage casserole.
Can do both with roast potatoes & veg.

Cottage/Shephards pie.

Would he eat fish? Chicken wrapped is prosciutto with a honey and mustard sauce? Steak and Ale pie? Chicken Kiev?" Toad in the hole? Pork and apple casserole cooked in cider?
Dutches potatoes are nice or parmentier, or creamy mash?

Greek roast chicken portions with lemon & herbs, just don't mention Greek! Wink Wink
You could serve with Parmentier potatoes, or potatoes Boulangerie, and a mix of broccoli, peas and asparagus tips.

Or another idea is gammon, served with colcannon, a very traditional classic dish.

Bit late to the table, as you'll have already have cooked by now, but my "traditional eater" relative likes things like Lancashire hotpot, Stroganoff, chicken casserole, shepherds/cottage pie, moussaka, salmon en croute, lasagne, steak and chips, fish pie.
