I am currently on early May leave and my partner has just started a new contract meaning he is outside from 6am to 3pm in the colddddd poor thing 😹

looking for some lunch ideas that are filling - either sandwiches or things that can be reheated ?

I have nothing but time so props if it keeps me busy making it LOL

Soups in a flask with a big piece of bread with cheese or butter. I'm working through making loads of soups from garden veg that's still left from the summer. Courgette soup, pumpkin soup, root veg soup (all blended, though you could make them not blended).

Jacket potato with winter slaw www.riverford.co.uk/recipes/winter-slaw or chilli. Last winter I took these to work to reheat www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/272423694
Curry and naan
Bean and bacon stew with crusty bread
Cornish pasties
Sausage rolls

I had a lovely stew and crusty bread when I was out for lunch recently. Not something I would usually make but made me think I'd give it a go in the slow cooker as another option over winter, for either lunch or dinner

I tried out a thing for sandwiches today that was really delicious. Take all the ingredients you want for your filling (I used 2 slices of smoked ham, 2 thin slices of turkey breast, some lettuce, a tomato, black olives, a couple of gherkins, mayo, bit of grated cheese and some black pepper). Put it all on a board and chop through it all finely so that everything is in little bite sized pieces, then load it all into a big bread roll. Its delicious - amazing flavour in every bite and a bit of a twist on a usual boring sandwich.

Do you mean something he can take to work and eat there, or something to eat when he comes home???

Jacket potatoes, pea/ham soup, oxtail stew, home made meat, chicken or veg pie.

Thermos do a flask with a larger mouth, specifically to keep food hot during the day. I used to keep chicken drumsticks in mine, stir fries, biryani, stews etc.

Noodles with a sesame/soy/sweet chilli dressing with shredded chicken/beef/pork/cooked prawns/tofu and veggies.

Hearty soups like lentil, mulligatawny, chickpea, chicken, pea and ham, scotch broth. In a thermos. With a cheese toastie to dip in.

I've read a few people here who put sausages in a thermos flask!

French onion soup with toasted cheese crouton, or in a flask with a toasted cheese sandwich.
Bortch is another warming winter soup, you can add chopped sausage or diced ham as you are heating it up, for more texture.

Sausage and mixed bean casserole, or Puy lentils served with braised ham hock are great winter dishes.

If you are thinking of lunch in a food flask, you could add small dumplings or soup pasta to soup for a more substantial meal, and pack cheese scones or slices of frittata to eat alongside.
