How the heck do I cook it (without using absorption method ideally ? ) Any tried and tested methods? I need to do more brown rice but cooking it really puts me off. I had a method once that was great and promptly lost the search page and haven't found it since so am deferring to the collective MN wisdom please 🙏

I soak it overnight with a shot of vinegar (meant to make it more digestible) and then in the pressure cooker for 12-14 mins.

I cook brown rice pretty much every day for my husbands lunch the next day. I do one cup of rice and two cups of cold water, Chuck in some seasoning(I like those little jelly pots) and some salt. Cook on low with a lid on and don’t touch the lid at all until you see little holes appearing in the surface of the rice(see picture). At this point you can have a look at it and see if it’s done. I normally switch off and leave to sit for a bit.

I cook in a microwave rice cooker and find an hour soaking in boiling water and then 15-20 mins does the job nicely. Also prefer basmati to other brown rice.

I use Tesco easy cook brown rice (here: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/254877454). Boil in lots of water and then drain. Lovely separate grains.
