I know this is bad but HOW bad is it?

DS(9months) is very distracted at meal times and closes his mouth and turns the other way etc..

The easiest, quickest way to feed him is to put him infront of babyTV and he robotically opens his mouth and we get all the food in quickly and hassle free.

My question is, is this TERRIBLE. Am I a bad Mum? I'm thinking i'll only do this for a while until he's self feeding completely (which he semi does now)

The way I console myself is by thinking 15 mins of TV every day just to get your belly full of nutrients can't be THAT bad?

Ok, I know it's not great but how bad is it?

dd has never much taken to dipping, i'd have to say. only recently has she got the picture, the poor dull child.

it is quite tasty and great for picnics, too, when young children are often too distracted to focus on eating much.

here's another good one for the baked bean lover:

Spicy Baked Beans

2 cans baked beans
2 tbsp olive oil
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 large yellow onion, chopped
2 tsp chili powder - I use 1 tsp mild and 1 tsp hot
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp salt
3 minced garlic cloves
1/4 apple cider vinegar
3-4 tbsp black treacle

In a cast iron casserole, heat oil and cook onion, peppers, chili powder, mustard and salt on medium heat for about 10 mins.

Add garlic and cook a further 2 minutes. Add beans and remaining ingredients. Adjust vinegar, treacle and spices to taste.

Cover casserole and bake at 180 for 45 mins.- 1 hour.

Ooh - had the BEST homemade baked beans, courtesy of MrHab the other day. But rather than hijack fnc's thread and turn it into world of beans (or are we too late for that?), I shall dig out the recipe and post it elsewhere.

expat, that sounds like a far superior version of the great birtish 70s classic - the Curried bean (baked beans wih curry powder)

this yellow lentil recipe goes very thick once you add the butter, especially the next day, and soft, so good for young ones:

i like to do the baked beans that way because the kids don't notice the hidden veg .

For some reason, New Mexicans tend to use black beans more than pintos. Tex-Mexicans will usually use pintos.

New Mexicans also tend to use chipotle peppers and Tex-Mexicans are jalepeno or habenero.
