Yeo valley cream of tomato soup - didn't realise it went out of date 16th October! But surely if it's tomato it should be ok??

Would you eat this?

If it has milk or cream in it,
it might have gone off. Taste it first.

Normally I'm a 'sniff it and check' person but it's a processed product a week out of date so you may not be able to tell if it's off. I'd (regretfully) let it go.

I wouldn't. Used to work in food manufacture. I'd eat something one day OOD, maybe 2, but no more. Manufacturers want to put the longest date possible on food, it saves money. It's got that date for a reason, it will have undergone microbiological testing to establish what the safe date is (and then a day or 2 knocked off to allow for people who chuck shopping in the car then go for a coffee).

Curious why you think tomato in particular would be though? Is it because its acidic, or vegetarian?

I'm not at all precious when it comes to use by dates but I wouldn't use meat/dairy products past the recommended date!
