Best cookery book

Can anyone recommend a cookery book for someone that's not very good at cooking? It needs to have some quick meals that I can pull together after work, that are healthy but tasty and would appeal to kids as well as grown ups? Thank you!

Jamie Oliver - Ministry of Food.

Fay's Family Food by Fay Ripley. And yes, Ministry by Jamie is a great starting point.

Mary Berry’s Complete Cookbook is great

Jane Hornby's books are excellent. She's worked with Jamie, the Guardian, Waitrose and BBC good food. Fresh and tasty recipes, interesting ideas, step by step instructions.

Meera Sodha's - East. It's wide variety of recipes from across Asia. The recipes are wide ranging, almost all the ingredients can be bought at a supermarket, and they are delicious. The recipe testing seems excellent too; the instructions work really well and the timings are good. It's my most used cookbook.

I’d recommend the Bored of Lunch books if you’ve got a slow cooker or an air fryer.

I’d say they’re not necessarily cookbooks, more bung it in an applicable and create something delicious - one for the reluctant cook! Slow cooker you could always prep before work too.

Bored of Lunch: The Healthy Slow Cooker Book

Nathan Anthony's Bored of Lunch is all about healthy, delicious and affordable home-style recipes designed to be made in the slow cooker.

This and Ministry of Food

Yes, I also want to recommend Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food. His recipes aren't complicated but this book is particularly good as it shows you several ways of doing things or swapping one thing for another to make different dishes. I have lots of cook books but this is the most used, probably at least once a week & my family always enjoy the dishes.

Another suggestion for Ministry of Food. Or Appetite by Nigel Slater.
