How do you cut out ultra processed food from your diet?

Ultra processed people was a brilliant, yet very infuriating read. I'm determined to make a change for my family and to cut out UPFs from our diet. I'm working full time and I can't cook from scratch every single day, so at the moment I'm focusing on shopping UPF-free as much as I can. Found this brilliant list of products that helped me a lot https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551827109379

Would love to hear what others are doing.

My Mum used to take lecithin supplements in the 80s, it was supposed to help with weight loss.

I have other reasons for avoiding emulsifiers so am very happy with my one square of dark chocolate! (It still counts as one square if you have four squares in the right formation, yes?)

The 4x4 is still a square

First half term where I really tried to avoid UPF. Harder out and about (buying lunch rather than packed lunch is an important part of the day out for us, as we do it so rarely), but overall we did well.
I was forever chopping fruit. And done lots of baking both savoury and sweet.

Back to pack lunches tomorrow. Ham is sadly one of the few things that dc actually eats. He's gone off cheese in a sandwich for some reason...

I don’t have a machine but started making my own bread about two months ago. I absolutely love doing it now, I fortunately work from home so it’s absolutely no bother to make during the day and yes it freeze’s beautifully. And agree that it fills you up much better than shop bought.

Do you slice it up before freezing or does a whole loaf freeze well?

I remember the Pringles bit in the book being something along the lines of:

They have some molecules in them that signal to your body that it’s about to get some really nutritious, satisfying, delicious food. But they’re basically composed of crap. So the reason ‘once you pop you can’t stop’ is that your body is looking for the proper food it’s been promised.
