Are nutribullets better than other blenders?!

I have started making green smoothies, involving raw kale and the like. I'm using my handheld blender, and the smoothies have small pieces in, rather than being totally smooth. I'm thinking the raw kale in particular would probably be more digestible if blended till smooth, rather than in pieces, and I'm wondering whether a nutribullet or similar is worth getting. I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who has one about how well it works and which model is best for smoothies.

I love my Nutribullet, I recently discovered that I can use it to grind fresh coffee beans too. Yummy!

if you already have a kitchen machine they usually have bullet type attachments that you can buy.

I have one for my bosch mum and it's awsome.
and as I had the machine already there isn't another thing cluttering the worktop/drawer.

mondaytosunday · 04/10/2023 11:44

It's built to do exactly that - plus you can drink straight from the mixer.

To add to the above, we love our nutribullet. Also have a Ninja 3 in 1 but the nutribullet is a better blender than the attachment the same style/size for ninja. Great for dressings, smoothies, soups, frozen cocktails etc. gets small portions really smooth too. Would really recommend. Ours is potentially dying after 7 years and I'd replace it vs relying on the Ninja attachment.

@SpidermanHat Thank you for the comment. Which model of nutribullet do you have, please?! Thanks!

It's great for getting things like smoothies super smooth, I think I have the 900 model. Like @SpidermanHat says it's also great for salad dressings, chuntneys, cocktails, pasta sauces, and even processing oats/nuts into a powder.

One of the downsides of a nutribullet is that you can't blend things while they are hot/warm, so it can't really be used for soup (unless you wait for it to entirely cool before blending which I find faffy and annoying), I also find the capacity a bit too low for soup anyway. Just a little thing that makes it less diverse than other blenders that you might want to cinder when weighing up your options.

I cant tell the difference in performance between my nutribullet and kenwood chef (have an attachment for making single portion smoothies rather than the full size blender. However, I never used to make smoothies with the chef even though it was sitting on the side looking at me all day. I have used the nutribullet almost daily since it was gifted to me. Its very easy to clean and very easy to use and makes nice smooth smoothies and nice sludgy oaty breakfast bowls!

I can't be faffed blending soup in any kind of blender, plus its dangerous working with hot soups - I have a hand held stick blender for blitzing soup in the pot.

I miss my Nutribullet - I bought some new accessories from Amazon for ours after DD destroyed the original top bit, and eventually one of them got stuck in/on the NB and I couldnt get it off. No one could get it off. So my advice is don't by off brand "NB" accessories.

I'm going to get a new one for Xmas.

SomeoneKidda · 11/10/2023 23:17

I said the other day that if my Nutri Bullet broke, I'd buy another one the same day. I double up kitchen stuff wherever I can, but the NB is unbeatable for smoothies. I throw in kale, root ginger, ice, nuts, everything - it's fantastic imo. I also use mine to make flour occasionally. Brilliant things.

SomeoneKidda · 11/10/2023 23:19

I didn't know you're not supposed to use it for hot things Grin I've used mine for hot things for the last few years - I never cool anything down before putting in the NB. Oops!

Ive got a vitamin and love it

Makes smoothies and will make the soup in the container. DD2 uses it every morning to make a smoothie for after the gym - simple to clean and is very robust. Can also make a delicous instant yogurt type ice cream with frozen fruit

vitamix not vitamin

I use our nutribullet nearly every day. It’s fab. It’s also pretty small so doesn’t take up a load of room. Really versatile

I'm not 100% sure but the package we got was a lot like this.

Caspianberg · 18/10/2023 18:15

I love our nutribullet.
I also use with hot stuff for soup or sauces. I should let it cool but I often don’t. Ours is at least 10 years old.
You can make homemade nut butter, fresh fruit and yogurt ice lollies, milkshakes, I use for pancake or waffle batter, all hidden veg tomatoe sauces (fussy child).

Sunflowercanvas · 18/10/2023 18:19

I love mine. It gets used daily, making oat Flor, smoothies, protein shakes, sauces, dressings etc.
We bought replacement cups, I’ve even glued one of the bits back on after I dropped it. It’s about 10 years old and still going strong. Would replace the same day when it does eventually die.

Flibbertygibbetty · 18/10/2023 18:21

Highly recommend nutribullet used daily very smooth results.

Caspianberg · 19/10/2023 06:32

One thing I would say is if your just using at home, you probably don’t need all the attachments of smoothie lids and handles that often come in the set.
If you just buy online from Nutribullet directly you can opt to just buy the machine and container, or add a bigger/ smaller additional container and it’s a cheaper way to buy.
