Sausages

Have just introduced my 10 month old to sausages for the first time . Felt very guilty as my oldest (now 3.5) didn't try them until she was at least 1.5 yrs. But as I was cooking them for two 3 year olds it was easier to feed them to my baby too than cook something else.

Does anyone know of any good sausages for children that are low fat, low salt etc? I've heard about some called Ellie and Roddy's that are supposed to be really good. Apparently they are low in salt and fat and high in lean pork and don't contain any 'nasty' ingredients. Has anyone tried them or know where to get them from? Are they any good?

Can't deny my children a food they love!

Lidl have some "speciality" sausages (can't remember the brand now), but they have all the traditional British ones, you get about a 400g pack (6-10 sausages depending on size) for about £1.79. (I first tried them when they had them on sale for £1 a pack and they were so good I think I ended up having sausages 3 times in the week! ) Anyway, I don't know about the salt/fat content, but it seems they don't have any nitrates, which is a real bonus for me, as I hate anything with nitrates/nitrites! They're fresh sausages, so probably don't keep as long as others, but I think the date was quite good on them (had like at least a week or more before they had to be used).
