they are both coming over for lunch...my mum is a semi-veg and MIL eats most things. for some reason i can think of nothing appropriate to feed them. is there such a thing as a motherly lunch?
all ideas gratefully recieved!

Maybe salmon, bit special and less "heavy" than a roast.

Either:
warm with new pots, green beans
cold with nice bread, butter & salad

Definitely some sort of a chocolate pud to follow - sainsbury's have choc fudge cake half price at the moment, it is lush...

thanks cyanrasamba.

i did think of salmon. am trying my hand at making puff pastry tonight and if it works i may do some kind of salmon en croute...

i've given up chocolate for lent though and dont think i could sit through everyone else indulging while i look on piously...
so crumble it is!

I'd go for frozen puff pastry! nothing wrong with it at all!

hi again,
welll, i spent friday in a frenzy of puff pastry experimentation and found it was not too hard!! in fact, it worked, it puffed and it tasted good.
soo, went for it on sunday and made this recipe which i found off google:
www.bbc.co.uk/food/get_cooking/recipes/052.shtml which was very yummy.

followed it up with pear and blackberry crumble due to no chocolate rule and it all worked very well.

thanks again cyanarasamba for the salmon suggestion. it was perfect.

My MIL is in Cambodia ATM so not in need of my cooking. But I would probably cook her salmon, and serve it with lots of wine. Love my MIL!

Angel Cake.

(Said very tongue in cheek - they both died nearly 10 years ago).

Glad you had a lovely day.
