Is there a limit on how many a 2, 4 and 6 year old should eat of these as mine have had about 10 each with their tea and would have more if I let them. It isn't every day they have them but for some reason they love olives.

mine too - odd isn't it? I know loads of kids who eat olives...but turn their nose up at a cherry tomato.

My ds, just 4, loves olives and alway has done.

As long as the olives are in oil (as opposed to brine) I shouldn't think there is any need to limit the amount they eat (she said hopefully)

cremolafoam · 28/02/2008 17:21

i suppose you just have to watch the salt content.but my dd loves them too.

Gingerbear · 28/02/2008 17:22

DD hates them, but DS loves them - but they have to be green.

Yes, you need to watch the salt content... I try to "limit" my dc's olives consumption.

Oops. They were in brine. didn't even notice that. I drain them though so hopefully no harm done. Per 100g = 1.40g Sodium.

Ds2 will eat olives but not tomatoes.

mine lives on Olives at least 20 a day (10 in lunchbox, 10 at teatime), they have to be black.

Her fave thing in the world is Selfridges olive bar!

It doesn't make much difference whether they are bought in brine or oil, as they are already brined beforehand and the salt is absorbed into the olive during the brining, so it's already there when they are put in oil iyswim. (Fresh olives are inedible - they have to brined to make them taste nice)
