Duck Fat

I've been defrosting my freezer today and found a bag of frozen duck skin. (I cooked duck stir fry earlier in the summer and couldn't bring myself to throw the skins in the bin). I had a plan to render them down and make duck fat for roast potatoes.

Googling for instructions it says to put in a frying pan over a medium heat, add water and then as this evaporates the skins render gently and produce the fat.

Has anyone tried this? I think I've got 6 or 8 skins and I'm hoping to get a good sized jar full 🤞

I've rendered fat in the slow cooker, it works. Chop the skin up small and do it on the lowest heat possible. Expect it to take a long time.

@BlackForestCake thank you. The slow cooker method sounds perfect. I like things I can set up and walk away from 😂

I use the mw on half power, put in a bowl and cover with clingfilm as it can spit.
