oh straight to wok noodles are fab eat them laods and loads (in fact had some for lunch today). I think I am the only person in Lond who isn;t keen on Pesto - am I the only person who thinks Basil tastes medicinal?

Kewcumber · 25/02/2008 16:22

thats actually a fair point flier - I'm always so focussed on DS or trying (unsuccesfully) to keep on top of the washing that I never think to do any of my food until after he is asleep (which at the moemtn is 9pm )

lol at the pesto comment!

Kewcumber, could you arrange for a service wash for your laundry? They will wash, dry and fold it all for you.

Kewcumber · 25/02/2008 16:31

thats also not a bad idea Mercy - hadn;t thought of a service wash - even if I did it once a month it would probably help. Service washes don't cost that much do they - haven;t had one done for years.

i used to get towels and sheets done in a service wash, just to get them dried and out the road. it was 15 for 30 pieces, so other stuff went in too, and they picked it up and delivered.

One of my favourite books for cooking everyday food is "cupboard love" by Tom Norrington Davies. Its fairly basic, but the food is nice. I have never made such a professional tasting salad nicoise.

To be honest, I think the best 'short cut' when cooking is to eat something over 2 nights. Mashed potato may take 20 mins to half an hour to prepare but can be spread to three meals - sausage and mash one night, fishcakes another etc.

The 'late bedtime' phase of toddlerhood/childhood is a complete pain though. We ate ALOT of pasta. I actually felt more rested when DD was a newborn than previously because DS suddenly started getting tired at 7pm again.

sorry that whole thread got hijacked into sort out Kewcumber into being less pathetic, organising her life and eating properly.

I reflected in this thread last night - it actually (ddepish though coming) made me realised that I am very tired, have sinusitis and it's keeping me awake, am depressed (the good old fashioned miserable kind not the serious get thee off to a doctor kind), the house is in a state and I need to sort myself out.

Kewcumber · 26/02/2008 20:59

that should have said - "depressed about my job"
