Veggie bolognese recipe that meat eaters will love?

My son’s favourite food is bolognese (meat). I’m vegetarian and don’t (and won’t) cook with meat. I’ve tried bolognese recipes with lentils and with mushrooms but he isn’t mega keen. (I think the mushroom ones are delish!)

Please give me your ultimate veggie bolognese recipe that meat eaters will love just as much!

@Bolognese88888 How old is he? I find most people, vegetarian and meat eaters, love puttanesca sauce. It's obviously not bolognaise, but it's strong flavoured and umami-ish. Might be a bit much for an under 5 though!

@CurlewKate only half a cup of tvp, it is all about balance.

Ds is 9, so a bit too young to be solo slow-cooker cooking (though he’s a good helper!).

I am loving all these tips though! And perhaps trying a different umami sauce for him!

We use soaked soya mince too. It has a good texture, much better than Quorn mince. The meat eaters of the family like it just as much as corpse mince.

I dont have a recipe but my workplace do one that has oats and lentil in it.

I also came to recommend the ottolenghi recipe - it’s amazing and makes loads, a great freezer filler.
