Baking - can you substitute soya / almond / regular milk?

Just that please, where a cake or muffin recipe calls for soya milk or almond milk can you substitute with regular cow’s milk? I use a lot of the deliciously Ella recipes which are all vegan (even though I’m not vegan) but I don’t like using almond milk or soya milk because then I waste the rest of the carton and it’s very expensive to buy the ones without additives like gums.

I want to try just using normal milk instead but not sure if that will work and I don’t want to waste ingredients experimenting!

Yes you can. I have made a few vegan cakes and always use oatly when the recipe asks for plant milk.

Yes of course, doesn’t matter what kind of milk it is, any milk/water would do.

Yes, the milk is just providing liquid really, the flavour won't be detected in a muffin.

Absolutely. We have cow's milk and oat milk in this house and I use them interchangeably in all recipes.

Agree that you absolutely can.

One thing I've noticed however is that things don't rise as well with oat milk vs cow's milk. So, for example, if I make waffles using oat milk, I add a little bit of baking powder. But the difference is mild and I've just worked out what to do with different recipes.
