i've just ruined another baking tray. My 'flapjack' is welded to it.

i've tried different recipes.....but the same thing happens every time.

shall i just admit defeat?

I had to do just that queenrollo! my last lot I put back in the oven thn when warm they came out the baking traY With a spoon and we ate my new cake rockjacks

Won't it soak off if you fill the tray with water?

PestoMonster · 23/02/2008 19:08

This used to happen to me time & time again. But now what I do is line the baking tray with baking paper and put the mixture on top of that. Hey presto! When the flapjack is cool it doesn't stick!!!

Mine will still stick with baking paper! A friend recommended baking parchment but I haven't tried it yet.

queenrollo how are you making them? When I make mine (& I love them all soft not hard and crunchy) I melt the butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan and when it is just coming to the boil (i.e. just starting to foam around the outside) I take it off the heat and add the oats. Then put in the oven (160 c fan oven) until the top just turns brown. It still looks undercooked underneath this but it continues to cook when you take it out of the oven, so you need to take it out a little bit before.

Hope this helps

oh and if you use a non-stick pan with the above method, I promise you it won't stick.

PestoMonster · 23/02/2008 19:15

I think it is baking parchment. You get it on a roll and tear off as much as you need. It never ever sticks any more and trust me, it used to.

lizziemun · 23/02/2008 19:21

Buy some teflon reuseable baking sheets, nothing sticks to that.

bellavita · 23/02/2008 19:22

The reusable baking liners are just fab for these kind of things - nothing sticks!

ProfessorGrammaticus · 23/02/2008 22:42

I'm going to try my twatrose parchment - it's in the cupboard just waiting for me

choccypig · 23/02/2008 22:43

LOL at Tw*trose !

Ceolas · 23/02/2008 22:45

Mine sticks if I have the oven just a touch too hot. Try turning the temperature down a fraction?

marmadukescarlet · 23/02/2008 22:59

Baking parch far superior to baking paper, and sillicone sheet better still.

I am a failure at flapjacks too, can russle you up jam, scones, bread, toffee, fudge, huge impressive choc gatox, meringues and any number of other complicated bits but am rubbish at fj's.

Had a minor sucess recently with a childrens (Usbourne I think) apple flapjack receipe.
