Hidden veg - am I being a bit thick?

Saw some 'hidden veg' Heinz pasta shapes today - does this mean they've put mashed up veg in it?

Couldn't they just fortify them with vitamins? I thought the most important point of having 5 a day was to bulk out your poo, stopping you getting cancer?

Can anyone explain?

Hold on a minute, is a portion the amount you could hold in you hand? Even a 16m old?

I don't see the point. How are you going to get your DCs to eat veg if it's always disguised as something supposedly 'nice'. If it's just the nutrition thing, can't you give fruit, fruit juice or vitamin supplements?

My DCs have their moments with vegetables but they know that the veg I give them (only the relatively restricted variety that they will accept ) has to be eaten. It's non-negotiable.

What do I do with my DD who has started throwing the veg she doesn't want on the floor? It was carrot tonight, has up til now eaten them without a problem.

Do I persist with giving them to her in the hope that she'll try again? Or mash them into the spud?!

COT - could you do both? Some whole, some mashed? My DS1 is a fruit and veg hater - doesn't eat any knowingly. He won't eat mash with carrot in etc - it's the wrong colour. So I can only add cauli, or peeled courgette (probably no nutritional worth at all!) into it.

I pretty lucky both my DDs love all veg esspecially carrots & peas...and even Cauliflower!...but a if you do need to hide it Cauli is great in mash with a sprinkle of cheese.
