Can mash be frozen?

That's it really.

I made a job lot of courgette and potato mash today thinking I would freeze it. Then suddenly I became wracked with doubt as to whether it can actually be frozen.

Please say yes, otherwise baby boy is going to have a very boring diet for the next couple of days

Yes

Have you got one of these

Bloody marvellous, if you are in for a lot of potato mashing

HenriettaHippo · 20/02/2008 16:48

I always freeze it in portion sized balls, wrapped in clingfilm.

Oooh no I haven't, I used a fork so it's lumpy mash! And it's the first time I've ever made mash...I think I'll stop now...

How great.
I'm due to give birth in the next month or so and want to freeze lots of food so I can just shove it in the oven for dinner in the early days.
How do you cook it after it's been frozen?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 20/02/2008 17:03

Bung in micro, mash goes from frozen to piping hot quickly.

Congratulations, BTW, VS

Ikea do a good potato ricer, cheap but have had mine for years!

VictorianSqualor · 20/02/2008 17:06

I don't own a microwave, can I do it in the oven?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 20/02/2008 17:09

Yup, no problem in conventional cooker.

I am the Queen of mashed potato, can't you tell?

I love mashed potato.
