Cooking with dry white wine…. Help

New to cooking with wine - a recipe i’d like to do includes dry white wine. As someone who is new to this and doesn’t drink alcohol either…

Where do i find dry white wine - a cooking aisle or the alcohol aisle?

How do i know if its dry?

Can anyone recommend a brand?

Thank you!

What is the recipe? If you want to be really precise the type would vary according to what you are cooking. In reality though, any Chardonnay / Pinot Grigio / Sauvignon Blanc should be fine. If you only need a small amount just grab one of those mini bottles from the wine section.

The type of grape used will denote how dry the whine is, rather than a specific brand.

Just get the cheapest bottle of Pinot Grigio or sauvignon blanc in the supermarket wine isle.

You can find it in the alcohol aisle. Depending on how much you need, you might want to get a miniature bottle if the rest would just go to waste.

The majority of the white wine available will be dry enough for cooking. Just avoid dessert wines like Sauternes. Some common dry types are Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Grigio.

I'm intrigued to know what you're cooking!

That should read wine, not whine 😂

Get one of those little bottles from the fridge bit in a small supermarket as you might not want a whole bottle.

You can freeze the wine in ice cubes for future use. Just buy the cheapest bottle

Get the mini bottles in the alcohol aisle. Almost all white wine is dry

For cooking is just get one of those vino cans from the cans part of the booze Isle. Don’t waste your money on a whole bottle.

Most white wine is relatively dry, get a Sauvignon blanc, avoid Zinfandel.

Ooo yummy a bit of white wine or even prosecco goes lovely in a creamy mushroom sauce! Just look at the back they all either say sweet or dry so don't worry it shouldn't be too hard and yes just get a mini bottle that should suffice. Cheap supermarket wine also fine for cooking with (as in from the alcohol section). Can't remember if I used to freeze it or not.

Mind blown!

If you don't drink, you also don't need to include wine in cooking, if you don't want to. Depending on the recipe, you can often sub things like chicken stock (for deglazing) or lemon juice (for tartness and acidity).

You can also buy cooking wine on the cooking ingredient aisles of supermarkets. Much cheaper
