My DD loves pizza so I thought I'd have a go at making my own. How do I make the bases?

150g SR
1tbsp olive oil
90ml milk

mix to a soft dough, roll and stretch out into thin rounds, add toppigs, gas 7 20-30min

makes soft 'deep pan' type rather than thin and crispy

maisiedaisy · 17/02/2008 20:23

Thanks

140 ml water, 1tbsp oliv oil, 225 g bread flour, 1 tsp salst half tsp sugar, half tsp yeast.

kneed and leave in a warm place for an hour, then roll into pizza base and add toppings, bake at 220 for approx 18 mins. alternatively if you have a breadmaker put the ingredients in and put on the dough cycle then roll the base.

If you cook pizza for 20 to 30 mins, wouldn't cheeses and ham get burned? That's what happens to mine even after 15 minutes.

ScienceTeacher · 18/02/2008 18:50

Breadflour, yeast, water and olive oil.

Cappuccino · 18/02/2008 18:51

ooh!

ooh!

MrsBadger · 18/02/2008 18:53

should just be bubbling and crispy
I don't do soggy cheese etc

turn oven down?

fedda · 18/02/2008 19:03

Did you cook your pizza with the topping for 20 to 30 minutes? If yes, what topping did you use MrsBadger?

pointydog · 18/02/2008 19:07

drizzle pizza with olive oil before cooking and it helps stop any burning as well as making it most delicious.

fedda · 18/02/2008 19:37

Thank you, pointydog, that's a fabulous tip!

jicky · 18/02/2008 20:05

Cook pizza at the highest temperature your oven can manage. Heat up the baking sheets in the oven as well and then bake for 8-10 mins. The dough starts cooking as soon as it hits the baking sheet.

fedda · 18/02/2008 21:22

Thank you, jicky. What recipe do you use for the pizza base?

jicky · 19/02/2008 14:47

The good food bread one - 500g strong white flour, 2 tsp salt, 7g sachet easy blend yeast, 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tsp honey or sugar. mix flour, yeast and salt. put oil and honey/sugar in jug and top to 300ml with warm water. add gradually to flour. knead 10 mins, let rise 2hrs, shape into pizza.

fedda- your welcome..and thank you. actually I'm supposed to make homemade pizza tonight... dh stipulates that if we are having pizza that I must make tiramisu too.. which I haven't written the recipe for yet.. though it is jotted down in my note book.

fedda · 20/02/2008 09:24

I have a nice simple recipy for tiramisu if you want it, meridian but you're probably an expert in all recipes

meridian · 20/02/2008 09:25

fedda-- i do have one that i use.. well recipe might not be the word as its more of a throw it all togeter scoff it down sort of thing.. but would like to look at yours please... I'll write a proper recipe for my version one day,

fedda · 20/02/2008 09:41

Meridian, the recipy I used and my DH loved it was from Angela Wilks Children's quick and easy.
Ingredients:
35 g dark chocolate
225 g mascapone
225 g fromage fris
55 g caster sugar
300 ml strong coffee (but I used instant and it worked)
20 sponge fingers (I used less though, I think it was 16)

I'm afraid i had to use many different dishes to make it though.

Grate the chocolate with the grater over a small dish. In a separate bowl whisk cream mascapone, fromage frais and sugar. Poor coffee in another dish. Break the sponge fingers in half, dip them in coffee and put a layer in each glass dish (I used individual pyrax dishes). Cover the sponge fingers with a layer of cream cheese and sprinkle with some grated chocolate over it.Repeat the layers finishing with cream cheese and chocolate. I have to say I only put sponge fingers at the bottom as I wanted to make it a light pudding. That's probably why I didn't use so many sponge fingers, I think.

Cappuccino · 20/02/2008 14:17

why are you looking at me Ladybird?

I am not usually a lazy mare

I just don't usually do pizza but dd1 asked for it when I was inthe middle of the online shop so I just did it, okay?

I realise it is not big or clever

fedda · 20/02/2008 14:28

Oh, come on, girls. Let's be friends. Please

I discovered I followed MrsBadger recipy as it seemed nice and easy. It was as well. My DS2 wasn't keen but DS1, who is the fussiest in the family, eat every single bit and I polished off DS2's with my soup. Thank you vwery much everybody who took their time to post the recipy and my special thanks to MrsBadger.

LadybirdG · 20/02/2008 14:30

oooh Cappy you obviously don't recognise me

good-oh, means I can have some fun
